CULTURE MANAGEMENT

A cultural manager is not just an organizer – they are a leader who can combine artistic excellence with strategic thinking and effective resource management. By studying this program, you will acquire the skills necessary to manage cultural and artistic projects, organize events, and develop creative industries.

This program is suitable for those who value the preservation and development of art and culture, as well as the ability to manage and organize significant cultural events.

 

Language: Latvian

Degree to be achieved: Professional bachelor′s degree in management science and business management qualification

Accreditation: Study direction is accredited till August 26, 2027.

 

What will you learn?

  • Comprehensive knowledge of cultural management: you will acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of cultural management processes, organizational management, strategic AND FINANCIAL planning.
  • Event organization skills: you will learn to plan, organize, and manage cultural and artistic events of various scales.
  • Creative industry management: you will learn how to develop and manage creative industry projects, how to start a business, taking into account market trends and innovations.
  • Communication and digital skills: you will develop the ability to communicate effectively with different target audiences, collaborate with industry professionals und use digital technologies in the implementation of cultural and artistic projects.
  • Knowledge of contemporary culture and creative processes: you learn how cultural-historical processes are integrated into modern culture, and you will be able to apply them when creating own master classes in various art fields.

 

What will you do?

  • Planning and organizing: develop and organize cultural and artistic events.
  • Project management: manage creative projects from concept to completion.
  • Team management: work in teams, ensuring effective collaboration and the achievement of goals.
  • Research and analysis: you will research and analyse the impact of cultural policy, social changes and new technologies on the development of the sector.

 

Where can you do your internship?

During your studies, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience by collaborating with various cultural and arts organizations, such as: lka.edu.lv 

  • State and municipal cultural institutions
  • Non-governmental organizations
  • Creative industry companies
  • Event organizing agencies
  • Theaters, concert halls, and museums
  • Media and communication companies

In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate in ERASMUS+ programs and gain international experience by doing an internship abroad.

Aims of the study programme

Aims of the study programme:

  • To provide students with a set of knowledge, skills and competence in culture management according to the 6th level of the framework defined in the Latvian education classification.
  • Educate specialists in culture management with analytical and systemic thinking, whose knowledge and skills enable analysing and planning management processes in culture.

Study programme objectives:

  • Provide a study process that complies with the laws and requirements of the labour market, as well as student-centred approach in higher education.
  • To promote qualification development of the teaching staff in educational and scientific fields.
  • To provide and develop research activities in the study programme.
  • To provide and develop infrastructure and facilities under the study programme implementation needs.
  • To develop international collaboration with related higher education institutions, enterprises and organizations.

  • Is able to reasonably argue on the issues and solutions in management and culture.
  • Is able to conduct research in management and culture.
  • Is able to independently organise their work.
  • Is able to work in a team

Competence (analysis, synthesis, evaluation)

  • Is able to acquire, select and analyse the information required.
  • Is able to take decisions on the organization′s activities using different types of information.
  • Is able to find solutions to the problems identified during the research or analysis of the organisation performance.
