Level 1 professional higher education study programme

INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND LOGISTICS

Aims of the study programme:

  • To provide students with a set of knowledge, skills and competence in logistics according to the 5th level of the framework defined in the Latvian education classification.
  • Train specialists in logistics with analytical and systemic thinking, whose knowledge, skills and competences allow to perform practical tasks in their profession.

Study programme objectives:

  • Provide a study process that complies with the laws and requirements of the labour market, as well as student-centred approach in higher education.
  • To promote qualification development of the teaching staff in educational and scientific fields.
  • To provide and develop research activities in the study programme.
  • To provide and develop infrastructure and facilities under the study programme implementation needs.
  • To develop international collaboration with related higher education institutions, enterprises and organizations.

Learning outcomes of the study programme:

Knowledge (knowledge and understanding)

  • Understands the key concepts and regularities
  • Understands the role of logistics in organising a successful company′s business activity.

Skills(ability to apply knowledge, communication skills, general skills)

  • Can plan logistics processes at the enterprise.
  • Can organise logistics processes at the enterprise.
  • Is able to reasonably discuss practical questions about the implementation and management of logistic processes at the enterprise.
  • Can argue their opinion in the prevention of logistic problems.
  • Is able to develop their own knowledge and skills in the logistics sector independently.
  • Is able to independently plan and organise their work.
  • Is able to work in a team.

Competence (analysis, synthesis, evaluation)

  • Can find creative solutions for prevention of logistic problems.
  • Is able to describe and analyse practical problems in the logistics sector using a variety of special methods.
  • Is able to use and process various types of information and statistics using logistic information systems.
