From 27 to 30 September 2025, Kaspars Šteinbergs, assistant professor at the EKA University of Applied Sciences, visited the University of Trento (Italy) as part of an Erasmus+ teaching mobility.

He introduced students to two approaches that were more practical than traditional lectures – in one session they tested game prototypes developed by his students in the “Strategic and Change Management” course, and in another they focused on change management, analysing airBaltic and Printful case studies through Kotter’s 8 Steps model.

At first, students were cautious about the game-based approach, but their engagement grew much stronger during the case studies. K. Šteinbergs notes that this experience highlights the contrast between the traditional lecture style, still dominant in Italy, and more interactive formats that will increasingly be shaped by artificial intelligence. He was also struck by a colleague professor’s remark that attending lectures in Italy is optional as long as students pass the exam, while bachelor’s theses can be defended whenever they are ready.

This exchange opens the door to further cooperation between the University of Trento and the EKA University of Applied Sciences, offering new opportunities for students and lecturers to share experiences and strengthen EKA’s international profile.
