DIPLOMA SUPPLEMENT LABEL
The UCEC has been awarded with the European Commission′s (EC) Diploma Supplement (DS) Recognition Label.
On June 3, 2014, six of Latvia′s high schools received prestigious recognition label of the European Commission. For the first time in Latvia the recognition label of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is given to BA School of Business and Finance, while five high schools - Latvian Christian Academy, the University College of Economics and Culture, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Rezekne Higher Education Institution, and Riga Technical University - were awarded Diploma Supplement (DS) Label.
The recognition label illustrates integration of Latvia′s high schools and higher education in common European higher education space.
Diplomas and diploma supplements
The graduates of the University College of Economics and Culture (Ekonomikas un kultūras augstskola) receive higher education diploma - an education document certifying the higher education acquired by its holder after completing an internationally accredited study programme, which meets the requirements of the respective level of higher education.
This Diploma Supplement follows the model developed by the European Commission, Council of Europe and UNESCO/CEPES. The purpose of the Supplement is to provide sufficient independent data to improve the international "transparency" and fair academic and professional recognition of qualifications (diplomas, degrees, certificates etc.).
It is designed to provide a description of the nature, level, context and status of the studies that were pursued and successfully completed by the individual named on the original qualification to which this supplement is appended. It should be free from any value judgments, equivalence statements or suggestions about recognition. Information in all eight sections should be provided. Where information is not provided, the reason should be explained.
The procedure for issuing diplomas and diploma supplements is regulated by the Regulation No.202 of the Cabinet of Ministers "On the Procedure of Issuing State Recognized Higher Education Documents" as of 16 April 2013.
Diploma supplement of a graduate from the University College of Economics and Culture (Ekonomikas un kultūras augstskola) follows the European Diploma Supplement model form. The copies of diplomas and diploma supplements are identical to the original.
The graduates of the University College of Economics and Culture (Ekonomikas un kultūras augstskola) receive their diploma supplements in the Latvian language and in a widely spoken European language - English.
Diplomas and diploma supplements are issued to every graduate free of charge.
