INTERNATIONALIZATION STRATEGY

The main objective of the EKA University of Applied Sciences (EKA) internationalisation is to enhance international competitiveness by promoting international mobility of students and academic staff, strengthening international cooperation and ensuring its sustainability, attracting foreign academic staff and supporting integration of foreign students in the EKA, thereby contributing to the international reputation of the EKA University of Applied Sciences and creating high quality multicultural education environment.


EKA internationalisation vision:

In 2020, the EKA University of Applied Sciences is internationally competitive and recognized, science and innovation-oriented university:

  • where internationally assessed and qualified employees are enlisted to scientific and academic work;
  • where the cultural environment is created, students and tutors are competitive on both local and foreign market;
  • where international scientific and creative activities regularly take place;
  • which cooperates actively with other universities, institutions and employers in Latvia and abroad in research and during study process.


EKA internationalization strategy 2018-2020 (EKAIS2020) was developed in 2017. The strategy has defined the EKA University of Applied Sciences internationalisation priorities:

  • international mobility of students and staff
  • international cooperation in the field of study, research and creative activities
  • the extension of the international dimension
  • international recognition

INTERNATONAL ACADEMIC WEEK (IAW)

EKA University of Applied Sciences and Alberta College invite you to take part in the International Academic Week 2020 held on April 21-25, 2020!

International Academic Week is an academic event organized to encourage internationalization of the study process at the EKA University of Applied Sciences and Alberta College. It will be a great opportunity for students to improve their ability to acquire knowledge and to communicate in the international environment.

International Academic Week is aimed to promote the international collaboration between the EKA University of Applied Sciences, Alberta College and academic institutions from different countries. It is expected to be a great opportunity to establish partnership and find new friends in the academic environment.


We offer our guests to take part in several types of activities:

  • Guest lectures and seminars
  • Panel discussions
  • Social events

Within the period of IAW2019 activities take the opportunity to participate in the International Scientific Conference “Emerging Trends in Economics, Culture and Humanities (etECH2020)” that will take place on April 22-24, 2020!

PREVIOUS CONFERENCES

STAFF TRAINING WEEK (STW)

September 25-28, the Staff Training Week 2019 " - „Advanced Research and Teaching Methods", organized in cooperation with Alberta College (AK), took place at the EKA University of Applied Sciences and AK. The STW has already become a tradition, since this is the fourth year the event is hold at the EKA and AK.

This year guests had come from higher education institutions of Italy, Germany, Lithuania, Spain, Bulgaria, Poland, Slovenia, Netherlands and Kazakhstan.

During the week of training participants gained practical knowledge of using games in study process as well as the use of various applications and interactive tools in higher education. Professor Joachim Schwarz from German FOM Hochschule acquainted colleagues with the opportunities of R software for statistical methods in social science research.

Of course, guests had a chance to see Riga.
