Fall Semester


The study process begins on October 1.
Admission lasts till August 1 (if s student resides outside Latvia).

Winter Semester

The study process begins on February 1.
Admission lasts till October 15 (if student resides outside Latvia).

 

6 steps of admission for international students


Step 1

Please send following documents at admission@eka.edu.lv

 

  • Filled in WORD format  Application form;
  • A copy of a passport;
  • If an enrolee has changed name or surname, it is required to provide a copy of the document confirming change of name or surname;
  • Notarized copy of general secondary education diploma + transcript of records;
  • Notarized copy of higher education diploma + transcript of records – for enrolees entering Master study programs;
  • Copy of International English language certificate (original must be shown upon arrival);

    TOEFL PBT (paper-based test) - 513+

    IELTS - 5.5 - 6.0

    TOEIC – 605+

    FCE (First Certificate in English) – 160+

    CAE (Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English) – 160+

    CPE (Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English)  - 160+

    Cambridge English: Business Vantage (BEC Vantage) – 160+

    Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE A) – 59+

    Cambridge English Linguaskill – 160+

    Duolingo - 100+

 

  • If you do not have abovementioned certificate, but your previous education was fully tought in English, please provide a copy of a letter from the educational institution which approves this fact.
  • Applicants for Master degree -  CV and motivation letter.


Documents shall be provided in one of the following languages: Latvian or English. If original documents are in other languages than mentioned above, documents shall be translated into English and translation notarized.

Please send documents in one email, NO ZIP files, scaned documents, separate files, please put all educatioonal documents in one file. All files should be properly named, like "Passport_Smith".

 

Step 2

If you are eligible for studies, within 7 days you will receive an invoice for Registration Fee. Registration fee includes document processing, organisation of Diploma recognition by Academic Information Centre of Latvia (AIC) (www.aic.lv – necessary procedure to start studies in any of Latvia’s higher education institution), settling the invitation and consultation when preparing documents to receive residence permit in EU country. Registration fee is 200 EUR.

After we get money to our bank account, we will send you information about testing: link to online test (for Bachelor students only). After you will take it, we will inform you about the results.

Those, who will answer correctly to 60%-100% of the test questions and Master students have to pass the  next step - an interview via Skype (you will need camera and microphone on your computer to participate in the interview). You will be informed about necessary procedure. If test/interview passed successfully, we will send you an invoice for tuition fee payment.

In case you have problems with Diploma recognition, visa, or residence permit or you cannot start studies at EKA University of Applied Sciences(EKA), registration fee is not refundable. Tuition fee is being refunded upon written  request of a student before start of studies.

 

Step 3

EKA sends your education documents to AIC  for recognition (takes approx.1 month and 2 weeks to get an answer).

After academic recognition of foreign qualification from AIC, EKA sends an enrolee a written confirmation and Study Agreement.


You have to send following documents back to us:

  • Scanned version of signed agreement between you and University
  • Scanned copy of payment order of tuition fee
  • choose a place where you′ll live and make a booking. You may choose from here 
  • Inform us in written in which Embassy of Latvia you submit documents for residence permit.

 

Step 4

EKA prepares invitation for you to start visa procedure. EKA sends you by email following documents:

  • An invitation
  • Original Study agreement
  • A copy of certificate confirming academic recognition of foreign qualification (AIC)
  • A copy of the EKA accreditation documents and study programs.

 

Step 5

Document processing for residence permit

 

Step 6

Congratulations! You have successfully done the procedure of receiving residence permit and received positive answer.

After arriving to Riga you have to visit the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA) to claim residence permit and order ID card. http://www.pmlp.gov.lv/en/home/services/residence-permits/procedure-of-registration-of-the-residence-permit.html

By the moment you receive ID card you have to prepare:

  • Original note of fluorography or X-ray examination results
  • Health insurance policy (for full residence permit period, including repatriation, coverage territory: Latvia and Schengen area)
