Academic Master Study Programme

INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Management in the cultural sector with a strategic vision and global perspective.

This master′s program is designed for those who want to inspire, create, and lead significant cultural projects in an international context.

It is the only program in Latvia offering an academic master′s degree in business with a deep understanding of cultural specifics, preparing professionals to operate confidently on a global stage.

The program content is designed to build skills for international work, combining project management, branding, intellectual property management, cultural diplomacy, and intercultural communication.

Students develop the ability to turn creative ideas into strategically managed cultural projects that inspire, connect, and cross-cultural boundaries in a variety of global environments.

 

The program develops the ability to:

  • manage diverse cultural projects internationally;
  • create synergy between creativity, management, and branding;
  • apply strategic thinking and practical knowledge of international funding and partnerships.

 

Graduates become professionals who lead significant cultural projects, build international cooperation, and develop sustainable cultural initiatives in Latvia and abroad.

 

Degree to be achieved: Academic Master of Social Sciences in Management and Administration.

Period of studies: 2 years

Language: English / Latvian

Accreditation: Study direction is accredited till August 26, 2027.

Admission requirements

Previous education:

  • Social Science Bachelor degree or second level professional higher education in economics or management
  • Social Science Bachelor degree in other fields and at least 2 years experience in project management
  • Bachelor′s degree in humanities and at least 2  years experience in project management
  • English level B2 or International English language certificate:
    TOEFL iBT – 72+
    TOEFL PBT (paper-based test) - 513+
    IELTS - 5.5 - 6.0
    TOEIC – 605+
    FCE (First Certificate in English) – 160+
    CAE (Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English) – 160+
    CPE (Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English) - 160+

Computer and software requirements

To successfully complete the study programme, students are required to have a laptop suitable for project management, communication, data processing and presentation development. Appropriate technical equipment enables students to plan and coordinate international cultural projects, organize events, collaborate with partners and effectively use the digital resources required throughout the study process.

 

1. Technical requirements for a laptop

  • Screen size: not less than 14"
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 (13th generation) or AMD Ryzen 5/7, or equivalent
  • Graphics card: integrated Intel UHD Graphics or AMD Radeon Graphics
  • Memory (RAM): at least 16 GB
  • Storage: 512 GB SSD
  • Network: Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) or Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax)
  • Connectivity: at least one USB 3.0 (5 Gbps) port or newer
  • Battery life: minimum 6 hours according to the manufacturer′s specifications
  • Alternatively, an Apple MacBook with an Apple Silicon M-series processor and at least 16 GB RAM

 

2. Required software

Software to be installed before the start of studies:

  • MS Windows 11 or later (recommended) / Linux / macOS
  • Microsoft Office (online version available free of charge)
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • Internet browser (e.g. Chrome, Edge, or Firefox; free versions available)
  • Cloud storage service (e.g. Google Drive or Dropbox; free versions available)

Learning outcome or the study program

Aim of the Study programme:

  • To prepare specialists in international cultural project management with analytical and systemic thinking, whose knowledge and skills would allow managing international projects in cultural and related fields.

Learning outcomes of the Study programme:

Knowledge

  • Know international project management theories and approaches to cultural project planning and implementation.
  • Understand international cultural project funding and support mechanisms and submission procedures.
  • Able to design, manage and represent international cultural projects and their teams.

Skills

  • Able to apply project management’s latest knowledge and technologies in international project management.
  • Able to carry out research on the project management processes with projects of various levels and scope.
  • Able to provide arguments to discuss the international project management aspects.
  • Able to take responsibility for the results of working groups in various cultural projects and to carry out their analysis.
  • Able to organize work independently.

Competences

  • Able to formulate and critically analyze project branding, positioning and intellectual property rights issues.
  • Able to find solutions to problems identified in the projects or to unforeseen situations generating new ideas.
  • Able to manage different types of teams, considering ethical standards and different cultural specifics.

Period of studies

Full-time studies - 2 years

Study schedule is designed for employed students and those who have other important tasks during the day:

  • on-line video lectures according to study schedule from 18:30 to 20:30 twice a week (IMPORTANT: those are online lectures not records, thus professors and students can communicate, show different documents, answer questions etc.);
  • all lectures later could be watched as records until the end of the study course (very important to those who cannot attend lectures due to objective reasons or are late to lectures);
  • seminars, teamwork, discussions, consultations - according to study schedule from 09:00 to 17:00
