Study programme Marketing students visited LETA
Students from EKA study programme “Marketing” visited the information agency LETA, which is the only agency in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia engaged in media monitoring. The visit took place as part of the Media Monitoring course taught by Anna Shnaider, Doctor of Philological Sciences.
During the visit, students not only had the opportunity to see LETA’s modern office but also met with LETA CEO Juris Mendziņš and Head of the Media Monitoring Department Agita Janiša.
Agita prepared a unique and highly informative presentation on media monitoring, including real examples of how the monitoring process works in print media, radio, television, and online news portals in three languages.
She explained the mechanisms used to track citations and demonstrated how analytical reports are compiled and how the final monitoring results are presented to clients.
Within the framework of the course, this visit was a unique and valuable experience that vividly illustrated the essence of media monitoring.
Students asked challenging questions and received an important piece of advice for their future careers — to start to think now about which company they would like to work for and begin moving in that direction.
The students left LETA inspired, fulfilled, and with a completely new understanding of how the media works and what media monitoring truly is.
