
From 30 November to 4 December 2025, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Development of EKA University of Applied Sciences, Asoc. Professor Karina Zalcmane, was invited by the Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism and Ariel University to participate in a professional visit aimed at gaining in-depth insight into Israel’s higher education system and exploring opportunities for academic cooperation.
The visit was conducted within an international delegation comprising representatives of higher education institutions from Lithuania, Poland, the United States of America, the Czech Republic, Italy, and Austria. During the program, the delegation visited Ariel University and Haifa University. The itinerary also included a visit to a Druze village in Israel, a meeting with the spiritual leader of the Druze community, the Chief Druze spiritual leader worldwide, as well as a visit to the Knesset and a meeting with the Speaker of the Knesset Amir Ohana.
On 9 January 2026, the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Latvia, Ms. Sandra Simovich, paid an official visit to EKA University of Applied Sciences. The purpose of the visit was to become acquainted with the University and its activities. During the meeting, Ambassador Simovich expressed her appreciation for Latvia’s internationally recognised personalities and commended the manner in which EKA University of Applied Sciences demonstrates national pride in its people. The meeting also included discussions on potential avenues for cooperation in the fields of higher education, scientific research, and knowledge transfer.
