COOPERATION: ZERO WASTE LATVIA

Zero Waste Latvija is an association that promotes the implementation of zero-waste lifestyle principles, responsible consumption, and circular economy practices in Latvia. The organisation brings together like-minded individuals, experts, and activists who work to reduce the environmental impact of pollution generated by society and to promote more sustainable solutions in everyday life, business, and governance.

Zero Waste Latvija cooperates with municipalities, waste management companies, producers, and other stakeholders, participates in the development of regulatory processes, implements initiative-based projects, and organises lectures, workshops, and discussions on circular economy, waste reduction, and environmentally friendly alternatives.

The aims of Zero Waste Latvija are to:

  • reduce the negative environmental impact of pollution generated by Latvian society;
  • promote Latvia’s development in line with the principles of sustainable development;
  • create and support environmentally friendly alternatives to polluting habits, services, and products;
  • promote the principles of a zero-waste lifestyle and circular economy;
  • provide support to society, organisations, and communities that wish to implement zero-waste practices.

EKA’s membership in Zero Waste Latvija strengthens the University’s involvement in sustainability, circular economy, and responsible consumption issues. This cooperation is important both for the development of the study process and for research and public education activities, particularly in areas related to sustainable entrepreneurship, social responsibility, green skills, and the promotion of environmental awareness.
