Information technology (IT) is one of the fastest growing industries in the world, and the demand for qualified IT specialists continues to grow. By studying information technology, you will not only gain technical skills, but also the ability to analyse problems, work in a team, and manage projects, which are essential in today′s job market.

Degree to be achieved: Professional Bachelor Degree in Computer Science and Programming Engineer

Accreditation: Study programme is accredited until December 7, 2029.

Where will you be able to do your internship?

    • In companies and organizations: You will do an internship in IT companies, gaining experience in real projects.
    • In state and local government institutions: You will gain experience in public administration, working on various IT solutions.
    • In non-governmental organizations: You will collaborate with NGOs, developing and implementing IT solutions.

Computer and software requirements

To successfully complete the study programme, students are required to have a laptop suitable for programming, data processing and information systems development. Appropriate technical equipment enables students to acquire skills in software development, database management, network technologies and other information technology solutions that are used throughout the study process from the first semester.

 

1. Technical requirements for a laptop

  • Screen size: not less than 14"
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 (13th generation) or AMD Ryzen 5/7, or equivalent
  • Graphics card: integrated Intel UHD Graphics or AMD Radeon Graphics
  • Memory (RAM): at least 16 GB
  • Storage: 512 GB SSD
  • Network: Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) or Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax)
  • Connectivity: at least one USB 3.0 (5 Gbps) port or newer

Aims:

  • to provide students with a set of knowledge, skills and competence in IT according to the 6th level of the framework defined in the Latvian education classification;
  • train programming engineers for professional information technology industry, whose knowledge, skills and abilities meet the demands of modern labour market.
